Heading towards Peterborough on A16, approx. 300 metres before the junction with B1040

Long pothole / trench on carriage way. Approx 20 feet long and 2 feet wide. Approx. 2 to 3 inches deep in places. This has been patched before in a couple of places but clearly needs urgent attention before someone is killed. I was riding my motorcycle when I hit the hole and was lucky not to have been thrown off, and to make things even more serious I had my wife on the bike at the time. My motorcycle has now developed a fault with the speedo system since the incident, which I expect to be compensated for. The total cost is as yet unknown as I can't get a booking at the garage to look at the bike until 16th of June. Who do I need to contact the have my costs reinbursed? Also I may need a courtesy vehicle to enable me to get to and from work until the repairs can be carried out. I do not think I am being unreasonable asking for my costs to be covered for the repairs, or a hire vehicle as I have to ensure that my vehicles are all road worthy, so I expect, as I pay a lot of money to use the roads that they are in a safe and worthy condition. This site says roadworks are planned for June, lets hope no one else has a similar terrifying experience as I did, or worse get thrown into the path of an oncoming vehicle in the opposite carriage way.
