53/55 Roman Rd

Reported via desktop in the Other road surface issue category by MR I BENTON at 12:51, Wed 28 May 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2845025.

I write with reference to your recent email numbered 2841130. You inform us that "no further action" is planned, but no explanation as to why? I can assure you that no action has taken place whatsoever. The kerb between 53 and 55 is displaced and loose and being pushed into the verge, the edge of the road is sinking. The hump caused by subsidence if the carriageway is getting worse and just this morning a teleporter with large bucket on went over the hump at tractor speed , our bungalow shook and the teleporter went into the air and bounced into the middle of the road, I was actually watching from the window! I have spoken before of the particular dangers of agricultural machinery that is not sprung and vibrations that happen. This is the third or fourth time I have reported the problem area at the entrance to the Allison estate and little or no action has taken place. Can you tell me if anyone has looked at the problems and devised any plan of action? The kerbstones may have had some attention but this failed totally and are pushed over and out of line as before. If work was done it was a total waste of time and money. The lorries from the building site are pushing the road down and out as they leave the site and turn west. Please let me know your plans/conclusions if and when they are made. I am more than happy to show someone the problems, I will even take you over the hump at 30 mph in my pickup. thanks Ian Benton

  • We’re sending you this message to let you know that we are sorry that there has been an issue with the automated emails that have been sent to you following your earlier enquiries. It was never our intention to take 'no further action' on the carriageway surface issues that you have raised on Roman Road, Moulton Chapel at the entrance to the Allisons development.

We are aware of the defective reinstatement in the carriageway at this location and are communicating with the developer and their contractors regarding carrying out remedial works at this location. We will continue to discuss with the developer and contractor in order to get an action plan sorted to repair this defect. Due to the nature of the remedial works required, the road width and the location, we hope that the remedial works will take place during the summer holidays.

With regards to the issues with the kerbing our Development Management team are aware of the issue and are trying to raise directly with Allisons. Thank you for reporting this matter.
