Hurtons Lane

Reported via mobile in the Pothole on road/cycleway category anonymously at 17:10, Thursday 5 June 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2845892.

Hurtons Lane is a short lane of approximately 100 metres long serving three properties. There are several deep potholes, some of which extend into a significant length of the road. The whole lane is in desperate need of repair to prevent damage to vehicles, the lane is not wide enough to avoid these. I should like to meet with a council representative to discuss the issues.

  • Just to let you know this issue has turned out to be more complicated than we first thought. We need to take this on for more investigation. We will let you know the situation as soon as we can. Thanks for bearing with us.

  • We're sending you this message to let you know that we've assessed the road condition and we have identified this location for a larger scale improvement scheme. At this stage we are unable to give specific dates for this or definitely commit to the scheme because we prioritise these schemes based on condition compared with the rest of the County road network and the resources available to us each year. We will continue to monitor this location as part of our routine inspections of the highway in the meantime. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action

  • I am sorry but I am not happy with the outcome of your investigation and the fact that the status is now listed as no further action. I feel totally fobbed off and angry. I attach some photos showing the number of areas marked for attention and yet you have attended the lane with a lorry, tarmac and workmen to only repair three potholes! This lane is not fit for vehicles to drive down on a regular basis without risk of damage to them and there is no way of avoiding going through these potholes/stretch of damage as the lane is narrow. My 91 year old mother lives at the bottom of the lane and has a carer attend twice a day, never mind the postman and delivery drivers along with the 13 residents and visitors of the 3 properties. As requested previously I would like the opportunity to meet with one of your inspectors to discuss this further.
