Junction to Tritton Road and Dixon Street - Temporary Traffic Lights due to Road Works

Reported via desktop in the Timing issue category anonymously at 15:33, Tue 10 June 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2846354.

Nature of Problem: The temporary traffic signals at the junction of Tritton Road and Dixon Street are malfunctioning, specifically in their timing. The green light phase for one or more directions is out of sync with the other lights at the junction.

This lack of synchronisation is leading to significant traffic congestion, causing vehicles to back up considerably on approaches to the junction. The improper timing is disrupting the smooth flow of traffic and causing unnecessary delays for motorists.

Could the relevant highways department or traffic management contractor please investigate this issue as a matter of urgency? The temporary signals require re-calibration to ensure all green light phases are correctly synchronised to optimise traffic flow and alleviate the current congestion.

  • The sequence, specicically from Skellingthorpe Road to Dixon Street, is only showng a green aspect for 15 seconds per cycle, allowing 8 cars through. Traffic was back past Skellingthorpe Road at 8.15 and a 20 minute commute has taken over 40. This needs to be addressed as a priority.

  • 16:45 Wed. Traffic leaving city on Tritton Road only had a short green light allowing a few cars through. Dixon Street was clear, traffic was nearly back to university.

  • Once again, lights have been rephased and traffic coming in via Tritton Road / Skellingthorpe Road is not getting a long cycle with 10 cars through. Traffic past Skellingthorpe Road at time of writing.
