Investigating
Lancaster Street Junction with Howe Way
Reported via mobile in the Sign (unlit) category anonymously at 18:16, Tuesday 10 June 2025
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2846366.
Lancaster Street beyond number 34 does not lead to a passable route, or other residential street, at the other end. This will continue until 2027/28. On a daily basis there are lots of vehicles (cars, delivery vans and lorries) travelling down the street at 30 mph, only to come to a sudden halt when they see the wooden fence and realise they cannot get through.
This is a danger to residents and road users and, in accordance with the Highway Code, as the road does not offer an exit or continuation, drivers should avoid entering the street if they seek a through route.
Until the road is fully open a ‘No Through Road’ sign is vital for safety of residents, effective traffic management and to avoid vehicles getting trapped then turning around using private driveways.
Unless a road sign can be installed on Lancaster Street adjacent to No 25, a temporary sign must be attached to the lamppost outside No. 29 to give early warning to road users.
