Loose Raised Drain Cover - Trip Hazard

Reported via desktop in the Manhole/drain cover on road/cycleway category anonymously at 05:53, Sun 15 June 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2846782.

This cover opposite 37 Meres Way is raised, loose and wobbly and a trip hazard. Doubtless the responsibility of the contractor responsible for maintaining this estate, but as a non resident I have no idea who this is or who to contact. Please advise.

State changed to: not the council's responsibility

  • Interesting... so having pushed it back to me I've just called Ashwood Homes, who tell me all the roads have been adopted by the local authority and it's not their responsibility either.

  • You really couldn't make this up - how are arrangements like this allowed? I've just had a follow-up call from Ashwood who tell me the block paved area is owned by the houses that border it (again not their responsibility) and that technically walking outside the footpath alongside it is trespassing! Surely if there is a need for a fix, some kind of enforcement notice can be served?

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because the main carriageway and footways have been adopted by LCC but only up to the blocked paved sections. Thank you for reporting this matter.
