    Subject: Damage to My Vehicle Caused by Bollard – Formal Claim for Compensation (Ref: 4570842)

    Dear Shaun / Highways Team,

    I am writing to formally report that my vehicle (Volkswagen Sharan, registration MF09 FYB) was seriously damaged by a bollard on Swan Street, Lincoln, due to its poor positioning and lack of visibility.

    This is not a “damaged bollard” as described in your previous response – it is a hazardous installation which directly resulted in significant side damage to my car on 30 May 2025. I consider this a clear case of Council negligence and lack of appropriate warning signage.

    As a result, I am submitting a claim for compensation. The total estimated cost of repairs is £3,000. I have attached photographic evidence of the incident and a professional written estimate for the repairs.

    I request that this claim is taken seriously and processed as a liability claim for highway negligence. Please confirm next steps and how to proceed with formal compensation.
