Foot path blocked with overgrown grass, hedges etc

Reported via desktop in the Obstruction (Road/Pavement) category anonymously at 13:48, Wed 25 June 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2847752.

This tarmac path through the village has received no routine maintenance work for years despite its condition being reported on a regular basis. When last reported the response was that it has been investigated and major work was planned and would be carried out if funds allowed. Obviously no major work has been carried out so, as a matter of urgency could some routine maintenance work now be done. I.e vegetation clearance at the very least? Residents are having to use the edge of the verge which in itself causes trip hazards because all the roadside drains around this area of a blind bend have been covered in mud which has created blind drops/undulations.

  • We're sending you this message to let you know that we've assessed the footway condition and at this time it does not require urgent repair. However we have identified this location for a larger scale improvement scheme. At this stage we are unable to give specific dates for this or definitely commit to the scheme because we prioritise these schemes based on condition compared with the rest of the County footway network and the resources available to us each year. We will continue to monitor this location as part of our routine inspections of the highway in the meantime. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action

  • Unfortunately this is annual response to this ongoing problem. Why is this footpath not receiving any routine maintenance/ clearing of the sides to enable it to be used?
