Eastern edge of Padley's Lane

Reported via desktop in the Pothole on road/cycleway category anonymously at 11:00, Fri 1 August 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 1 minute later. Council ref: 2851396.

There are now THREE distinct places on Padley's Lane where the road has worn away and is dipping dangerously towards the ditch. In one place the road is now over a foot narrower than it should be. This problem has been reported several times since 2022 and is getting worse and worse, unsurprisingly. This is a single track carriageway and is our sole means of entry and egress from our home. I drive an SUV (we have two German Shepherd dogs) and am genuinely concerned a large vehicle like mine, or larger, will end up in the ditch (again). We are reliant on larger vehicles to empty our cesspit, collect our mower and to deliver Calor gas. If they refuse to come down the lane (as has happened on 2 occasions now), we are scuppered. A fire engine couldn't get down here now!

  • Last week Padley's Lane was closed whilst fibre broadband cabling was laid. The plant machinery used has caused further significant degradation to the eastern edge of the lane and - in one spot - the subsidence is now very serious. My husband has cut back the hedges on the west side of the lane, opposite where the dips into the ditch are, so vehicles can get closer to this side, but - having gone out this morning - it's evident that this may not be sufficient for many. I reiterate: The lane is our SOLE MEANS of entry and egress. I need to organise fuel oil delivery and am not sure that the tanker will be able to get to our house now.
