Locked bolted gates on access to Blue Gowt Lane
Reported via desktop in the Obstruction (Road/Pavement) category anonymously at 21:26, Tuesday 9 September 2025
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 1 minute later. Council ref: 2855215.
This right of way was closed for roadworks on the new Western Relief Road and should of reopened when the newly installed Two Plank Bridge was reopened. This access path had temporary fencing placed on it for about a year even though the bridge is open. Permanent heavy duty gates have now been installed, even though there is newly laid footpaths and access to cross over to the bridge. These can be clearly seen but not accessed. This has always been a very busy route, and we have been informed it is actually an ordanance survey route and as such should not be restricted. This route has always been used by locals for walking and cycling and is a common throughfare connecting Pinchbeck village to Spalding Town. I have spoken to numerous people, all of whom cannot understand why it has not reopened and why people are now being forced to walk to further or detour to cross over the river, when the pathway is there and has even be repaved and updated. No explanation has been given, and no-one knows why it has been gated when it was supposed to reopen when Two Plank Bridge was restored.

Having received this update me and my partner cycled down this route expecting to be able to go through the footpath, only to find the gates are still padlocked shut. We then had to travel about half a mile further to continue our journey. As you can see from the latest pictures, the footpath is the otherside of the gates and is newly laid and usable if the gates were not locked.
