Roundabout road markings too far back, safety issue

Reported via mobile in the Road Markings category by DoA ProperJob at 11:10, Wednesday 10 September 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2855273.

See picture from before the road was resurfaced. Who oversaw these new road markings? It is not possible to see towards aldi when approaching from north holme road which will result in damage / injury. Needs removing and re applying at no expense to the tax payer.

  • We are sorry but we are not taking action with this report because no safety issue or risk to property can be identified. Our inspection has found the lining to be appropriately and effectively placed, with a clear line of sight from all good way markings on the mini roundabout. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action

  • Are you saying it was incorrectly lined last time if you are saying it is correct now? Drivers are ignoring the lines and waiting past the line. Damage to property and injury is likely if this aren't rectified. Please confirm when the new lines were checked and by whom so that if an incident does arise that the taxpayer has evidence that it was deemed safe. As you can see by the screenshot provided beforehand, the lines have been moved back significantly, reducing visibility at a busy junction.

    State changed to: Open

  • I myself have witnessed multiple very near misses with these new road markings and had one myself. On the approach to the roundabout from high holme road, the junction markings are so far back that it is not possible to see any traffic to the right of the roundabout on newbridge hill.

I have approached this roundabout numerous times and had cars that have failed to stop, turning from newbridge hill to keddington road and very nearly hit the front of my vehicle.

This issue needs correcting asap by the company who carried out the poor quality of road markings before an accident takes place.

  • We must be to blame! As LCC deem them acceptable, as well as the person / people that inspected them after this report, and the people that marked the road! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed. It's only a matter of time before a crash happens and I'll be the first to screenshot this report and send it to the press and will be making a formal complaint. The road markings near cordeaux school are also too narrow where the road has the filter lane for the trading estate. Whoever applied the markings and signed off the work needs sacking.

  • Cars are stopping a cars length in front of your newly painted white lines, just to be able to see around the corner towards aldi, it's only a matter of time before an incident happens.
