Outside Castles Education, Acland Street, Gainsborough – queues regularly extend down Acland Street and onto Ropery Road.

Reported via iOS in the Obstruction (Road/Pavement) category anonymously at 15:11, Fri 12 September 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2855494.

At school start and finish times, a large queue of vehicles regularly forms outside Castles Education on Acland Street. The queue is made up mainly of taxis and cars waiting to access the school site, and it consistently stretches back along Acland Street and onto Ropery Road. Because vehicles are held outside for a period of time, they end up waiting along the roadside on single yellow line restrictions. This blocks the pavement, restricts visibility, and causes traffic flow to grind to a standstill on both Acland Street and Ropery Road. Pedestrians, including schoolchildren and residents, are often forced to walk around vehicles that are partially obstructing the pavement, which creates avoidable risks. This is not an occasional issue but a daily occurrence at predictable times of day, which demonstrates that it is a systemic problem. The obstruction creates ongoing congestion, raises safety concerns for vulnerable road users, and reduces access for through-traffic and emergency vehicles. Given that this issue stems from how vehicle access is being managed, it requires more than individual enforcement — it needs to be looked at as a traffic management and highway safety concern. I would ask that this is reviewed by the relevant Highways/Traffic Management team so that a safer and more effective system can be put in place to prevent these recurring obstructions.
