Road between old railway on Stewton Lane

Reported via mobile in the Standing water covering more than half the road category anonymously at 07:07, Sun 21 September 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2856276.

It's been a while since we had rain, but now we have and its flooded again..This has been happening since the two new houses were built on the bit of land that allows the water to drain off the Rd. It now has no where to go. This is getting to be a regular problem and could cause one house to get flooded.

  • Flooded again. Right across the Rd and almost down one of the drive ways. It is flooding every time we get rain now.

  • Every time we have significant rain now the road floods where the railway originally crossed Stewton Lane, Louth. It seems to have started since the 2 new properties were built in the last year (currently for sale)and I assume the groundwork’s that were carried out means that the water no longer is able to flow away naturally and there is no surface water drainage system in the hollow. The 2 photographs attached as examples were taken Monday and Thursday of this week, (20th and23rd Oct). The flooding is far from ideal/ is a danger for traffic and very inconvenient for all the dog walkers on the lane/Railway Walk

  • Road flooded again, people unable to use the public footpaths. Any updates on repairs as this has been ongoing for a long time now?

  • A nice morning today, less than 3 hours of rain this afternoon and took photo at 4pm. If you’re one of the many walkers who walk down the lane make sure that you’re wearing wellington boots. Motorists beware

  • Even worse after a night of rain, people are having to partially drive over the grassy hill to safely get through!

  • On 21st September LCC advised that they were investigating and would report within 14 days. As far as I can see no progress has since been reported. I would have thought that there are basically 2 options - either install road gully in bottom of hollow with drain discharging to suitable outfall or raise the level of the road in the hollow. It would be good to know what plans/progress has been made

  • This was added to a number of other reports for the flooded area by LCC when they closed the cases.

Perhaps time to involve the local MP

  • Continuous rain has caused the road to flood again.

This is now causing the hill to erode, a significant dip has been caused next to the telephone pole, which has started to move and all the phonelines are being stretched. Won't be long before the phonelines start to snap or the pole falls down.

  • 2.12.25 Stewton Lane , public footpath. Access to Stewton Lane/ The Railway Walk from the public footpath via Stutte Close is completely impassable unless you have waterproof boots on. Absolutely NO access if wearing shoes. School children cannot access this route to school. It appears to be an increasing problem since the two new houses were built at that location.

  • Please can we have some barriers to stop the drives driving on the grass and making the problem worse. Not only is it making the water muddy, but is also stopping the water draining away. And as a previous post, the bank is now slipping and could cause the pole to fall or wires to snap.
