Vegetation/Hedges/Trees problem

As I mentioned the trees overhang our boundary all down the side and we would like them cut back please. Also the footpath has lots of weeds growing between the edging kerb and the tarmac that needs addressing. There is also some green waste at the end of the path that appears to have been dumped plus a Christmas tree further down this could do with clearing so it looks tidy and will maybe discourage people from adding to it. Thank you. Dean.

We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because the only concern for the highway authority is the suitability of the footpath for public use. The vegetation is not impeding public access. The highway authority doesn't own the corridor of land through which Footpath 3 runs, so you might take any concern about vegetation outside the width of the footpath to the house builders. The common-law position is that you may cut the overhanging trees back to your boundary, subject to leaving the wood on that party's land and prior check that the trees are not subject to any Tree Preservation Order with the district council. Thank you for reporting this matter.
