Russell Street

Reported via mobile in the Sign (unlit) category anonymously at 19:30, Sun 12 October 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2858360.

Good Evening,

Hope you are okay.

Just wanted to say I think there should be a dead end sign at the bottom of Russel Street. People often come down to the end thinking they can get further when they can’t. It’s constantly busy with traffic down the street and causes annoyance to neighbours. I think this is something that needs to be looked into.

Have a good day

Thank you

  • Great news, we’ve had a look at the issue and we have now passed to our Highways Officers for the team to assess what can be done to resolve the matter. We’ll let you know when the assessment has taken place.

  • No change. Cars still come racing down Russell street as they assume they can get through. They then cause problems by having to slowly reversing all the way back up the road. We need much clearer signs stating that it’s a dead end.

  • Thank you for your enquiry regarding the suggestion to install a “No Through Road” (Dead End) sign at the bottom of Russell Street. Please note that there are already “No Through Road” symbols incorporated into the street name plates on both sides of the street. These name plates are not maintained by Lincolnshire County Council but are the responsibility of the City of Lincoln Council. If the existing street name plates are worn or damaged, please contact the City of Lincoln Council directly to request that they be replaced. We would not look to install additional signage at this location, as this would unnecessarily clutter the highway, where the footways and carriageway are already restricted by parked vehicles. To enquire about their replacements, please contact City of Lincoln Council directly via the following methods: Web: https://www.lincoln.gov.uk/ report-it Email: customer.services@lincoln.gov.uk Call: 01522 881188 Thank you for reporting this matter.
