The road surface has been poor from the start. Albeit an “unfinished” surface, (very) raised manhole covers, and large potholes are only becoming more of an issue with the increased traffic volume, on road/pavement parking, and new sewerage works that are now taking place.
These works are remedial works on a brand new estate that should not have been required, should Avant Homes have overseen and held utilities contractors to a correct standard. The building works finished on the estate weeks ago, yet these remedial sewerage and utilities works have only recently began, and are already delayed against the original estimate.
It is clear that these works will continue on for weeks, therefore I ask that the road surface and manhole issue be addressed in a timely manner. The poor quality of the road surface and raised manhole covers are forcing drivers onto the wrong side of the road, causing near misses, and I suspect there will soon be a collision, if indeed there hasn’t been already. I estimate the potholes to be in excess of 4 inches deep in places, and the manholes raised by roughly the same amount.
I have spoken to North Kesteven and LCC Highways with no success and no suggested route to resolution. I was advised that the roads are still under the jurisdiction of Avant Homes but, as others have raised, Avant Homes are not responding to communication - a common theme throughout the “journey”.
I look forward to hearing a response from LCC and hope that the very real risk of further damage to cars, and risk of a collision, is taken seriously.
