Re: Urgent Concern Regarding Poor Road Condition Dear Sir/ Madam I am writing to formally raise serious concerns regarding the poor condition of Hurn Lane, an unclassified road, located in Sibsey (from A16 - Boston Road to South View, Hurn Lane, Sibsey, beyond the level crossing). The road surface has deteriorated significantly, with multiple deep potholes that pose a clear risk to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. Theses defects are particularly hazardous in the summer, where uneven camber, combined with significant cracking along the crown of the road, allowing grass and vegetation to grow through the surface, or at night and in poor weather, where they are difficult to see, causing damage to vehicle, which we have recently experienced. This prolonged neglect has resulted in significant safety hazards, including: Damage to vehicles, including serious underbody damage and, most recently, two punctured tyres. The road has not been maintained for over 33 years since my spouse have lived here, with no evidence of routine inspections, preventive maintenance, or resurfacing being carried out during this time. As you will be aware, under the Highways Act 1980, the council has a duty to maintain roads in a safe condition. Unclassified roads remain part of the public highway network, and their upkeep is essential to ensure public safety. I respectfully, request that the council arranges an urgent inspection of this road and takes steps to repair/resurface the potholes. Please, could you also confirm the expected timeline for these works. I would be happy to provide photographs or further details to assist your inspection.
