35. 35a,35b Stewton lane

Reported via mobile in the Standing water covering more than half the road category by Sean Gower at 21:03, Tue 9 December 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2865000.

Flooding of road that doesn’t disperse for some 4 days after rainfall. I pointed out this would be a problem to a highways officer on the occasion of a site visit during the build over 12 months ago and got a very non productive reply . We have paid considerable fees to the council for drainage and planning fees and the highways are neglecting their legally bound duty to fix this, it should have also been spotted from the drawings submitted , all to the detrimental effect as we are trying to sell them, which is costing us money . I have also had borderline abusive / threatening letters posted through my letterbox about this . It needs resolving NOW!!! From: Sean Gower

  • More flooding and more damage today!

  • I echo the concerns raised, and the report submitted previously, by this resident. The flooding of Stewton Lane when it rains is not only damaging the pre-existing nearby properties (which is unacceptable), but also blocking access to the footpath on both sides of the road, including the railway walk. See attached photos.

The flood water is too deep to cross or attempt to exit from the footpath, which is an accessibility problem. If my understanding is correct, Lincolnshire County Council have a responsibility to ensure the public footpath remains safe and accessible, and remove any subsequent obstructions (which this flood water is). Pedestrians cannot walk safely along the road and any routes along either side of the road are hazardous. This has only become a problem in the last year and was never an issue previously.
