Chapel Road northbound at intersection with Fellands Gate
Reported via iOS in the Sign (unlit) category anonymously at 19:52, Thursday 1 January 2026
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2867498.
A car narrowly missed slamming into me and my dog yesterday afternoon as we walked south toward this intersection. A car hit the curve going north and lost control, which required him swerving as he braked to avoid us, and stopping suddenly. Driver clearly shaken and concerned. The curve stays slippery at all times when frost or ice on the road. While NORTHBOUND pavement is marked SLOW it’s hard to see w so much mud, and only road sign indicates a curve. Grit box nearby but apparently no schedule of spreading. STRONGLY RECOMMEND A SIGN INDICATING “SKID RISK” be placed. Resident at Toad Hall reports more than 40 crashes into his fence over recent years by out of control cars and there is no place for pedestrians to leap away from vehicles as in my case the other day. Please prioritise this as a SAFETY CONCERN.

In the week since my report a vehicle lost control on this curve and slammed into the fence line of Toad Hall AGAIN, just two feet from where I was walking & nearly hit. When are authorities going to respond appropriately to negate this hazard? Will it take an injury or death? Please contact me.

Since my last update, another car has lost control and crashed into the fence line of Beagle Cottage at the corner of Fellands Gate and Chapel Road. The property is next to Toad Hall on Chapel Road where the slippery curve is the cause of frequent accidents and a clear danger not only to property, but to pedestrians including children walking home from school. PLEASE PRIORITISE REPAIR, AND TAKE ACTION TO PREVENT FUTURE THREAT TO SAFETY IN THIS DANGEROUS AREA.

We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because there is no accident data evidencing a highway issue at this time to warrant any further action. Thank you for reporting this matter.

Yet another car running into the property Beagle Cottage Naples road. I cannot believe you’ve reported that no action is going to be taken because you don’t have traffic accident reports. Do you actually believe that anybody who runs into a fence line is going to report it? Speak to the resident at Toad Hall who has CCTV along his property line, recording. You are getting regular reports from residence that this is a dangerous curve and cars are routinely out of control. Please appear to do something serious about this very serious danger. Anything less is negligence.
