At the top of Mill Hill on the right, opposite Mill Farm

Reported via desktop in the Hanging tree or branch category anonymously at 11:37, Sunday 4 January 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2867694.

There are 3 trees that look unsafe. All are marked withe red numbers - so may be in the process of being dealt with. One in particular looks very unsafe and is bending towards the electricity supply pole. They are in danger of falling in a strong wind and would cause considerable damage in the process.

  • Thanks for letting us know about the issue. In this case the fault is not on one of the roads we look after. To find the owner of the land you could contact Land Registry here Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • Thank you for you reply, however, if the tree that is most unsafe falls, it will be onto the highway, and as such could cause considerable damage to anyone passing by in a car or walking. I believe that local councils do have the authority to request landowners to conduct work needed as follows;

    "Action by the Local Council If overhanging branches are causing a problem, you should report the issue to your local council or the highway authority. They have the power to: Issue a formal notice to the landowner, requiring them to cut back the vegetation within a specified timeframe (e.g., 14 or 28 days). If the landowner fails to take action, the council can carry out the work themselves and recover all reasonable costs from the landowner."

    I have reported this, and do to the severity of the situation, would request that this matter is passed on to the landowner by the council.
