Outside Newlands, Wharf Lane

Reported via desktop in the Standing water covering more than half the road category anonymously at 10:28, Friday 9 January 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2868403.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to formally report an ongoing and serious safety issue involving recurrent surface water outside my property, caused by incorrect road and pavement levels following resurfacing works.

Since the resurfacing was carried out, the dropped kerb and adjoining pavement have been left angled towards my driveway rather than towards the carriageway. As a result, surface water collects very regularly and drains onto my driveway instead of away along the road, where it should properly discharge.

This issue presents a significant hazard, particularly given the property’s close proximity to a school. Parents and children regularly use this pavement, and when surface water accumulates — especially during colder weather when it freezes — it creates a dangerous situation. Pedestrians are frequently forced either to step into the road to avoid the water and ice or to enter my driveway, which has already resulted in damage to my property.

I am unable to carry out repairs to my driveway at this time, as doing so without the pavement and road levels first being corrected would worsen the situation. Any repair would cause surface water to spread across the carriageway, increasing the risk to both pedestrians and vehicles.

I respectfully request that this matter be treated as urgent and that the road and pavement levels are inspected and modified so that surface water drains correctly towards the road. This is necessary to address the safety risk, particularly to schoolchildren and parents, and to prevent further damage to my property.

I would appreciate written confirmation of the actions to be taken and an indicative timescale for resolution.
