Riverside cycle way and footpath
Reported via iOS in the Other road surface issue category anonymously at 10:25, Saturday 17 January 2026
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2870147.
Large area of the joint path does not drain, causing ice hazard. There also doesn’t appear to be any gritting of this busy route into town which will force more cyclists onto the local road network.

Thank you for your report, we have inspected the location provided and there is no hazardous levels of water that are not draining away even after heavy rainfall. Unfortunately any water will freeze in cold temperatures and create a hazard. We do not grit footpaths so we encourage you to be cautious when using it in freezing temperatures. Thank you for reporting this matter.

This is the area that persistently does not drain.
It’s a bit disappointing that your proposed safety measure for icy cycle paths essentially amounts to get off and walk when it might be icy. If you aren’t prepared to safely maintain off-road infrastructure you will need to ensure more adequate on road provision around the city.
