Cowbroads Lane

Reported via iOS in the Damaged road edge, encroaches more than 100mm category anonymously at 15:13, Monday 19 January 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2870680.

At least a half mile stretch of Cowbroads Lane has been severely damaged by HGVs cars and tractors. Someone has decided this is a good diversion route while The Gride is closed. This is totally ridiculous. You cannot walk safely down there. There is no way to step off safely. There are huge dips in the road basically this is an accident waiting to happen.

  • You are joking this afternoon highways closed Cowbroads Lane no through road for 10 minutes then removed. In the last 30 minutes we have had two hgvs, four tractor units with trailers, numerous cars and vans at least three stand offs for passing, verges are a safety risk as so soft. I watched a highways employee on Wednesday drive down Buttercake lane, into Cowbroads lane park up on the verge for 10 minutes a-few hundred yards down then drive off, if that was the extent of your investigation no wonder nothing gets done, just as an aside we pulled a car out of the dyke last Friday, not the last I suspect.

    State changed to: Open

  • On Friday no through signs went up by highways and we were told the road was too dangerous for use. They were both end of Cowbroards lane not Buttercake. Staples have moved these signs. Lorries and tractors are continuing to drive down here. They are not moving over for cars. The verges are disappearing fast. A couple of weeks ago a car ended up in the dyke. There are also signs saying not suitable for heavy vehicles, all ignored.
