1 Church Hill

Reported via mobile in the Standing water covering more than half the road category anonymously at 11:08, Wednesday 21 January 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 2 minutes later. Council ref: 2871169.

Despite recent work by LCC there is still constant standing water on the road. It is believed there is a blockage in the drain. Possibly tree roots as there are a number of trees in the vicinity.

  • Still water standing. Ongoing issues since November. Would hate for it to cause a accident

  • As the freehold owner of 1 Church Hill our customer has reported to us that the issue of standing water has not been resolved and there is now a large pothole within the standing water area which cannot easily be seen. Our customer has also reported his vehicle has been damaged by the road surface which has been thrown up from the pothole with the standing water.

  • The water which should be going DOWN the drain is constantly coming UP through the drain, which suggests a blockage further down the street. This problem has persisted for several winters and has been reported numerous times. It will not go away until the reasons for the flooding is ascertained. The continual splashing as traffic drives past has ruined my iron gates and block-paved drive & has become so severe recently that it is now encroaching on the pavement. I note that there are three drain covers on the habited side of Church Hill (on the north side) - the one outside my property is the final drain cover on that side of the road, then there are six drain covers on the opposite side all the way down to the junction with the road to Welton. Hence the drain MUST cross the road somewhere between 1 Church Hill and Stamford House - and that is where I believe the problem lies. Several weeks ago I had all the flood water sucked up by a tanker and the flooded area was cleared of any standing water; within fifteen minutes the road was flooded again and I noted the water was coming UP through the drain. I hope this helps to understand and fix the problem, which has become a nightmare for several local residents as the `flood' has now spread beyond my property and Stamford House and is on both sides of the road. I thank you in anticipation of your attention to the matter.
