The lane from the crossroads towards the Roundlands,

Reported via mobile in the Collapsed verge category anonymously at 09:46, Thursday 22 January 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2871444.

There has been recent work down Mill Lane and verges have been dug up for pipework to be laid. This has left damaged verges, mud on the road which has not been cleared and the lane has been left in a state which is a hazard to users. The verge in question has been damaged by vehicles getting stuck and leaving deep ruts and compromising the structure of the dyke. There is a risk of users getting stuck if they were to pull over for other road users (one vehicle lane) and also a risk of skidding on the mud. The issues have been present last week and this week. Your attention to n this matter would be appreciated.

  • Site inspection carried out 23/01/26. We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. We accept that the mud on the carriageway is an inconvenience but this is not a significant safety hazard and such conditions are to be expected in rural farming locations. We will continue to monitor during our routine highway inspections and if the conditions worsen please contact us again. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • Having just received an update from you this complaint was not about Mud on the road but a collapsed and damaged verge. The ruts are Deep and have been caused by a work vehicle not a farm vehicle getting stuck and having to be towed out. This damage will not repair itself. The damage has also undermined a dyke. Contractor Information can be provided if necessary who caused the damage. Please Kindly review the case.
