Valley Road, Grantham- Dysart Road end

Reported via mobile in the Wheel tracks or ruts category anonymously at 17:25, Tuesday 3 February 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2874892.

The grass verges are a muddy mess. I understand people don’t always have room to park on their drives but in this weather, the grass never dries and people are making a mess when parking and driving off. The mud is ingrained on the road. We paid a couple of thousand pounds to get our hedge cut back and fenced because we were reported to the council and we try and keep the front looking nice. A neighbour even cuts the grass verges in summer. What can be done to tidy our road up? I am willing to plant trees or put plastic bollards outside our horse.

  • These were taken today. One household quite clearly thinks they are their own personal parking spaces, across the road from them. They usually have 2 or 3 cars parked there. SKDC your prooerty is being damaged and what an eye sore.

  • Following your report to us, an officer has assessed the situation. The grass verges form part of the public highway and where there are no parking restrictions on the road or another reason for it to legally not happen, parking on a grass verge may happen. But, if this parking causes a highway safety issue with either damage to the surface or as an obstruction, then enforcement may be an option. As far as this case goes, we haven't found evidence of a safety issue which means that no further action can taken under current law. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action
