Blocked Storm Drain

Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 10:02, Thursday 5 February 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2875275.

The storm drain near the traffic lights is completely blocked resulting in flooding to the road during moderate or heavy rain. This has been the situation for sometime.

  • We've inspected and acknowledge that this gully/system is blocked, but because it is not causing a serious highway safety or property flooding issue we will not be ordering work at this time. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action

  • Dear LCC, Thankyou for checking ihe drain and confirming it is blocked. The status has now deteriorated with subsidence around the blocked drain. In addition please carry out an inspection during heavy or persistent rain. As can be seen from the photos the entire roadway in both direction is liable to flood. Pictures taken at 11 am today 28/2/26. This results in traffic moving to the centre of the road to avoid deeper water along the curb and significant amounts of water and mud being splashed across the pavements on both sides rendering them unsafe / unusable for pedestrians. We hope you agree and will schedule the necessary repairs as soon as possible. This is a regular pedestrian route for our village residents and visitors who wish to use the adjacent bus stop and can no longer safely do so under these circumstances.

  • Follow the recent flooding experienced at the traffic lights I have now taken photos of the two storm water drains leading up to the traffic lights along Church Lane showing subsidence of the road surface around storm drain grills.

In addition to the lack of drainage and resultant flooding the depth of the holes have the potential to cause serious damage to vehicles passing over them.

We hope you find this of assistance.
