On Scothern lane appraoching the A46 junction

Reported via desktop in the Sign (unlit) category anonymously at 13:56, Monday 9 February 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2876383.

The large sign notifying drivers of their approach to the A46 and the directions left and right appears to have been hit by a vehicle and the sign is now rotated 180 degrees and now faces towards the A46 direction. One of the two poles holding it in place appears damaged, and the sign is now swivelling on the remaining pole.

Hedge cutting vehicles have been active along the A46 and would appear to have hit it with their cutting arm.

  • The sign is now hanging from one post. Needs some fairly urgent attention as a risk of this falling into the carriageway if the remaining post fails.

  • The sign was hit by a car about a month ago on a Saturday night after turning off the A46. The car dropped a couple of passengers off and then drove off. Presumably they were either speeding and/or misjudged the junction.
