Road surface at roadworks on Surfleet Road

Reported via mobile in the Problem at LCC roadworks category anonymously at 17:14, Sunday 1 March 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2882079.

Extensive roadworks to install new drainage for housing estate. It now looks as if the road surface is falling away from the existing pavement towards the excavations (which are filled in part), leaving a large between the road and pavement. Concerns that the road will continue to settle/sink once traffic flows again. The tarmac also looks of poor quality in places and I believe it will become potholed very soon unless the complete road surface will be tarmacced to make one smooth surface. Noticed today on my first fully daylight walk along the length of the works.

Updates

  • Thank you for letting us know about your concern at roadworks. Where the roadworks are LCC’s responsibility, we’ll investigate and address any issues found. Where the roadworks are the responsibility of a third party (e.g. a utility company or other private contractor), we’ll ask that they investigate and address any issues. You can find out more about roadworks, including who is responsible for them and how long they’ll be in place, by visiting www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/roadworks

  • Should say, “ leaving a large continuous gap between the road and pavement.”

Also concerns that the gap will become a soak away for surface road water and will undermine the road surface over time..
