Manhole cover is faulty. It is making a loud bang when being driven over and can be heard from at least 50 metres away when driven over. It is on a residential estate and should not be making this noise.

  • Great news, we’ve had a look at the issue and we have now passed to our Highways Officers for the team to assess what can be done to resolve the matter. We’ll let you know when the assessment has taken place.

  • An investigation of two other covers within 200 metres of this faulty cover was done a couple of days ago, yet this one hasn't been investigated, even though it was reported at the same time as the other two on Franklin Way. Surely commonsense would say to investigate all three at the same time given that they're on the same road and within 200 metres of each other no?

  • This cover was repaired over a year ago. Within weeks of it being repaired, it started banging again when being driven over. As a result of that, a further report was put in by myself to have this matter recitified, of which I was told no further action. As a result of this being faulty, it of course has become worse over time, and therefore should be repaired. Its no good someone getting out of their vehicle and standing on the cover to see if it rocks, drive over it instead with windows down on the vehicle and then hear the noise. This can be heard from approx 100 metres away, and that shouldn't be happening, especially in a residential area.
