Investigating
Edge of Northfield Road (near to 14, 14A and 16 Northfield Road)
Reported via mobile in the Dying or diseased tree category anonymously at 15:47, Saturday 28 March 2026
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2886641.
There are a number of willow trees lining this road. One collapsed this week into the road and caused a hazard and completely blocked the road. It was diseased inside. We are concerned that something similar may happen with the others and think they should be checked and potentially cut back.

I totally disagree with this post, yes check them and if deemed unsafe they can removed but otherwise they must be left in place

I think you have misunderstood the post so not sure what you disagreeing with - the phrase 'checked and cut back' is not the same as 'removed'. That is a well used road by walkers and increasingly by traffic. If a car or a pedestrian had been near that tree when it collapsed (across both road and pavement) then the results would not have been good at all.

See below,
Yes, a weeping willow can be cut back severely and survive. They are incredibly resilient, fast-growing trees that can even grow back after being cut down to the ground. However, heavy pruning can lead to weak, rapid re-growth that may require consistent maintenance in the future.
