Green Lane

Reported via desktop in the Problem at LCC roadworks category anonymously at 12:31, Friday 10 April 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2887962.

I live on Green Lane and once again you have closed the road without any prior warning. It happens every single time you fix any potholes. A simple warning would be nice so that I can move my car, inform any delivery companies and ensure I don't organise any trades to come to my house.

This time it's during school holidays so I am unable to move my car to take my children out for the day. We have now lost the cost of the day we had planned. A simple prior warning meant I could have moved my car the previous evening.

Your maintenance staff are unhelpful and if I request them to politely move their cones/vehicles I'm told they can't and it's not their fault the road is closed. This is unacceptable. We have one access road into our properties and have no alternative routes.

  • Thank you for the enquiry regarding the road closure, and our apologies for any inconvenience caused. We have checked our works ordering system, and I can see that our pothole gangs have attended on 10th and 21st of April to undertake reactive repairs raised. As such our contractors have attended in time to meet the deadlines, and this has involved a road closure due to the widths of the carriageway and operative safety. Due to agreements between Lincolnshire County Council and the contractor linked with the term maintenance contract, they had to arrange this as a short notice closure. Unfortunately, in these situations, it is not possible to plan and inform as we would for a more planned scheme where letter drops are undertaken for the affected properties within the closure area. These defects are safety issues, and we have to attend as per our policy. Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience caused, however due to the vast amount of work going through the contractors gangs, short notice works will occasionally require these closures. Access is usually maintained where possible for residents, especially when it is the only access, however there may be periods where this is not possible due to the stage of works. Thank you for bringing this to our attention however, as I will pass your comments on to the contractor as feedback as we do always try and minimise impact and disruption where possible, but with a large rural network with limited widths, health and safety requirements often push us to full road closures to achieve our repairs safely. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action
