There used to be a bridge here and it has been removed. It is still shown on your map but it's been demolished now. I would like to know what the expected route to be taken is now that it's gone? I sometimes commute to work by bike and use the great bike path along the river and I love that I can use my bike whilst mostly avoiding cars/traffic (as I have been run over in the past). But now I get to Melville Street and hit a dead end. I have tried going up the pavement and using a pedestrian crossing but it's quite a busy one there. The route onwards goes along Saltergate which is also quite busy and then I ended up going over Wigford Way bridge which is a narrow pavement for pedestrians and bikes to share. From Waterside South I have tried going left and using the crossing to the bus station but then I end up cycling past the exit of the car park and have to weave through some metal barriers. Once I get onto St Mary's St I then have to hop up a kerb to get to Brayford Street which feels risky. So far I haven't found a good alternative to the old route over the bridge apart from leaving the bike path early, going onto Great Northern Terrace and taking the roads. At that point I may as well just cycle all the way along Washingborough Road and forget about the bike path completely. So what was the plan when tearing the bridge down?
