Along Wragby Road from Christ Church School eastwards past Austen Walk junction

Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category by Mark Allen at 13:50, Friday 5 June 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2893897.

The drains are completely blocked by decomposed leaves and broken by tree roots. There is no drainage along this stretch of Wragby Road anymore. The drains used to be cleaned every year, then every few years, and now don't get cleaned at all. On Tuesday Wragby Road became a river in 15mins, to the point that the footpath curb was not visible, making it dangerous to walk on. Houses are in danger of flooding too.

  • State changed to: Investigating

Updated by Lincolnshire County Council at 15:12, Friday 5 June 2026

  • We cleaned this areas drains in the last year and our last inspection showed that they are working well. It’s worth noting though that at times of extreme weather even well-maintained drains like these can be overwhelmed. If the problem happens again but in less extreme conditions then please report this to us and we will investigate the issue again. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • The drains in the road that I am referring to are completely blocked with soil, they do NOT work, hence the road keeps flooding under heavy rain. The drains in the road used to be cleaned but have not been for some time now.

    State changed to: Open

  • These drains are completely full with soil. The blockage being caused by fallen leaves that have not been removed. I spoke to someone trying to clean the nearest drain ?last year(or year before) who said it was totally blocked now and broken due to the tree roots. So, every time there is any heavy rain, Wragby Road between Ruskin Avenue and Austen Walk (at least) becomes a river. If these drains in the road had been maintained, this would not be a safety issue.
