12-16 High Street

Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 10:48, Wednesday 8 July 2026

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2897759.

Rain water from roof of 12-16 High Street runs into a drain on the property and enters pipework - "LLC pipe" -which runs under footpath and road to discharge into the kerbside drain

Roots have blocked the pipe.

The drain on 12-16 has been dug out to reveal the entrance to the "LCC pipe". The system on the property and the entrance to the LCC pipe were full of roots. There was no evidence that the roots had penetrated the pipework on the property, rather the roots had come entirely from the direction of the LCC pipe. Some roots - approximately to property boundary - were removed but roots were present beyond that point. Engineers from Auger and Anglian Water have visited. Anglian Water jetted the LCC pipe from the entrance on the property and were able to generate a good flow through the LCC pipe into the kerbside drain.

The state of the LCC pipe needs to be inspected please to determine where roots are entering/whether it is damaged and necessary repairs carried out to prevent future root ingress

As the waste water does not enter the sewage system it is not Anglian Waters responsibility to resolve the issue

Thank you

  • Thanks for getting in touch with us. The pipe in question is not a Lincolnshire County Council pipe even though it is placed in the highway. It is a private service pipe. Please check that this is not in fact connected to the Anglian Water surface water sewer in the street. (plan attached) Either way it is a private pipe and it is not the responsibility of LCC to clear. According to our records our gully was last cleaned in December 2025 with no defects. Unfortunately we are not able to attend and clear the roots from the blocked pipe between the gully and your property. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: not the council's responsibility
