I rang into the highway department and spoke to Charlie, I gave a detailed report, so I am not happy with the details written here This road was stripped back and resurfaced about two years ago, Lymn bank east Pe24 4pj, the problem starts at the junction and runs down to the cheese factory, there is minimum top surface on this road, this is a small country road being used for a large number of large refrigeration wagons using the cheese factory, this road is not suitable for this usage, this now results in the road becoming a melted mess when the weather reaches hot temperatures, the tar is so sort it stick to shoes, tyres and body work on vehicles, the tar is liken to hot toffee, once the tyres get covered of vehicles travelling on the road every thing sticks to them, the tar is coming off in clumps leaving the starting of again large pot hots This road needs urgent action ? It is damaging property,, tar is everywhere YoursDeg

We're sending you this message to let you know that we've assessed the road condition and at this time it does not require urgent repair. However we have identified this location for a larger scale improvement scheme. At this stage we are unable to give specific dates for this or definitely commit to the scheme because we prioritise these schemes based on condition compared with the rest of the County road network and the resources available to us each year. We will continue to monitor this location as part of our routine inspections of the highway in the meantime and action any defects that reach our intervention level. Nothing has been done on this problem, maybe you should have come out when it’s a hot day and the tar is so soft it sticks to everyone’s tyres and bodywork, This is absolutely disgusting and a complete waste of time even reporting to you, the photos that you highways member took are not even where the worse part of the road is!!!!!!

Thank you for your further report regarding the condition of Lymn Bank. We appreciate your frustration, particularly with the road surface becoming soft during periods of hot weather and the impact this can have on vehicles.
We have continued to monitor the location and have placed warning signage at the site. An officer is also attending the location on a weekly basis to inspect the condition of the road and ensure that any deterioration is identified.
At present, the defects do not meet our intervention levels for a small reactive repair. We have also been unable to undertake larger remedial repairs immediately due to the continued hot weather. Carrying out a repair while the road surface remains susceptible to softening could result in the repair failing or the same issue recurring, which we are keen to avoid.
We acknowledge your comments regarding the photographs previously taken and appreciate that these may not have captured the worst-affected section of the road. Our ongoing weekly inspections will ensure that the full length of the affected area is considered and that any change in condition is identified.
We appreciate that the current situation is not ideal, and we apologise for the inconvenience this is causing. We will continue to monitor Lymn Bank while we await the opportunity to undertake the appropriate larger-scale remedial works.
