• We’re sending you this message to let you know that the only interest that the county council has in the hedges is in seeing that access along the footpath itself isn't obstructed. We won't act to stop overhang of your garden just on the basis that the overhang has extended across the footpath first to reach that point. You do not say or include any photo to suggest access along the footpath is compromised. The common law position is that you may cut the overhang back in line with your own household boundary. It could be worth checking with the district that there are no tree preservation orders applying to any tree(s) you plan to cut. Thank you for reporting this matter.
