Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to urgently follow up on the ongoing deterioration of Hurn Lane, Sibsey (from A16 – Boston Road to South View, not only the level crossing). I previously escalated this matter in December last year under Ref: 2864620, and at that time I was advised that although the road had deteriorated, it was not considered sufficient to warrant resurfacing.

Since then, the condition of the road has worsened significantly. Following recent harvesting and prolonged dry weather, the surface is now crumbling even more, with deepening potholes, severe cracking, and an increasingly uneven camber. These defects are causing repeated damage to vehicles and present a clear risk to pedestrians, animals, and all road users. The situation is becoming dangerous, and an incident is becoming increasingly likely.

I will be attaching photographs to demonstrate the current condition of the road, including the crumbling edges, vegetation breaking through the surface, and the uneven structure that makes the road hazardous, especially at night or in poor weather.

Given that this road has not been maintained for over 33 years I respectfully request that this matter is reviewed as a matter of urgency.

We are desperate for support, and I do not know what further steps we can take to ensure this matter is taken seriously. The road continues to deteriorate, and immediate action is required, please.

I can provide files containing evidence of the concerns that were raised earlier.

  • Great news, we’ve had a look at the issue and we have now passed to our Highways Officers for the team to assess what can be done to resolve the matter. We’ll let you know when the assessment has taken place.
