Multiple edge collapse/potholes

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2902125.

There are multiple pothole/edge collapse caused by large (farm) vehicles trying to pass one another on both sides of Culverthorpe road between Swarby and Culverthorpe. Risk of vehicle damage especially once it rains and holes are hidden in large puddles

  • Great news, we’ve had a look at the issue and we have now passed to our Highways Officers for the team to assess what can be done to resolve the matter. We’ll let you know when the assessment has taken place.

  • We have run into a small snag with our investigation and asked the reporter to update this report with some more detail. Once this is received we will progress our investigation.

  • There are multiple edge collapses on this stretch of road caused by large vehicles compressing the verge when avoiding on coming traffic and subsequently causing the road edge to collapse creating potholes. As this road is relatively narrow for modern vehicle sizes, vehicles approaching one another are having to drive at the very edge of the road hitting the potholes. These have proven difficult to avoid in the recent wet weather as they are submerged. Risk of tyre/suspension damage is high if encountered at normal road speeds
